When the version number is shown here, it is NOT the installer version, it is the HD Audio driver
version!
This is very confusing.
Installer 2.3 which is the newest on the Realtek site
contains HD Audio driver version 5.10.0.5911.
I can't find a newer version, so I don't know
where Software Informer thinks it is.
I have no idea where Software Informer thinks there is a version 6 driver at all! The latest
Windows driver on the RealTek site is version 2.3. The latest Linux driver is 5.12.
? Format your PC ? - That is not good advice! -- DO NOT FORMAT YOUR PC!! -- First
ensure that you actually have a Realtec audio chip on your motherboard! The Realtek
drivers can have a problem with WinXP SP3, giving an error code -5009 when you try to
install. To get round this you need to do the following:- Remember to unzip the
archive that you downloaded!! Ensure that there is no current sound driver installed
by using The Device Manager to UNINSTALL any Realtek drivers Use "Rescan for new
hardware" and say that you know where the files are. (Give the path to your directory with
the latest setup.ini in it.) My path was C:\downloads\RealtekHDAudio\WDM_R227 Once I did this, It installed fine and device manager showed ATI Function Driver for
High Definition Audio - ATI 791A and Realtek High Definition Audio. Remember to restart
your computer to get everything updated properly.
I just got a Computer with Vista. Vistas got some nice features, but this update Wizard can get U in
trouble. Everytime it says theres a new update BE CAREFUL, cause it hasn't been right for me yet!
Fortunately, I double check!
My Toshiba installed realtek 8169 PCI is not compatible with Cisco IP Communicator. This is a real
inconvenience for me. I have Direct X version 10 loaded on my toshiba. Does anyone know or have a
solution to this problem? I'm running Vista ahhhhh.
